“The item of business that we want to attend to tonight,” began Board President David Davis, Jr., “is that I want to step down as President. And I make a motion that Wayne Johnson would be moved into my position as President.”

Rick Millholland seconded the motion, and upon a unanimous vote, Wayne Johnson was moved into the position of President. Johnson began by making a statement about the new law requiring governing bodies to livestream public meetings.

“The Town of Hardinsburg currently does not have internet or Wi-Fi access at this meeting location, and our YouTube account we have set up to livestream has not been verified to livestream yet. Under Indiana Code, I.C. 5-14-1.5-2.9, we are not required to livestream meetings until such technology is available to us.”

Johnson went on to state that until livestreaming was available, meetings would still be recorded and uploaded to the town’s YouTube channel. That evening, a recording of the meeting was uploaded to YouTube.

Johnson then read another statement, included below in its entirety:

"To the Residents of Hardinsburg and Interested Community Members:

Thank you all for being here today.

I would like to take a moment to address the residents of Hardinsburg, as well as anyone outside our community who has been following recent developments.

While the Town of Hardinsburg was never legally dissolved, it was placed under county control pending the outcome of a dissolution lawsuit. During that period, the town's revenues were held in a separate account managed by the county.

As announced in today's Town Council and County Commissioners meetings, Hardinsburg will be receiving $3,845.10 from those funds. Now, I’ve been given information that there's possibly more money than that. So, I’m not going to hold that number is 100% true.

We are currently in the process of reviewing financial records to determine how the remaining funds were allocated or spent. This effort is part of our commitment to understanding how the final amount was calculated and ensuring full transparency.

Now that Hardinsburg has been officially reinstated, our focus is on reestablishing the town's administrative and operational functions that were paused or altered during the transition.

As we move forward, we respectfully ask for your continued support, patience, and involvement.

To keep the community informed, we will begin publishing a monthly Town Board newsletter, which will outline upcoming goals, town updates, and important information relevant to all residents.

Transparency and accountability will continue to guide all of our efforts.

Thank you again for your trust and support."

Following the statement, the meeting was adjourned.

The Hardinsburg Town Board newsletter, as well as a schedule for future Town Board meetings, will be published in The Washington County Times.
