Calling all art lovers! The very first Art on the Bricks showcase will be tonight, July 18, from 6 to 9 pm on, you guessed it… the bricks of Market Street!

This amalgamation of approximately 25 local artists will be stationed at various booths along the street, and most will be selling their art work! The Salem Fire Department will be on the bricks as well cooking their world famous "Fire Burgers!" For more information, contact (812) 883-4265.

“This is my first time ever actually doing an event like this,” said Aspen White, local artist. “When I first heard about it, I couldn’t believe it and felt thrilled to be able to be a part of something like this. I believe art to be fundamental for communities. It is a way of expression and sharing stories between others. To bring the community together in such an event is a beautiful thing for Washington County.

“Our county has always had amazing artists in all forms," continued White. "And for people to come together and have this free opportunity to showcase their work is just simply incredible. In any template, everyone is capable of creating, and I am grateful to have an opportunity to get creative and artistic amongst the true artists of the community.”

White concluded by saying that events such as this are extremely important for the community, and that such events are not always easily put together.

“Events like this take time, effort, financing and most importantly, passionate people to make them happen,” White said. “I hope this event inspires people to hold more opportunities like this for our county to enjoy.”

Be sure to stop by and check out all the talented local artists on Market Street this evening! It will be a wonderful opportunity to see just how talented Washington County really is.
