The Little Mr. and Little Miss Campbellsburg Contest is open to children ages 2 through 10, with categories for ages 2-4, 5-7 and 8-10. Kids are encouraged to wear jerseys and team apparel, but it is not required.

The baby contest is at the community building. The entry fee is $5. All entrants receive a prize. Age groups are 0-3 months, 4-6 months, 7-12 months, 13-18 months, and 19-24 months.

A cornhole tournament team fee is $20. First place wins $100. Rules are on the registration form: https://form.jotform.com/242616397421054

Baking contest categories include:

  • Cakes made from scratch

  • Fruit pies with filling and crust made from scratch, no canned filling

  • Rolled or drop cookies made from scratch

Contestants may enter one item per category.

Entries must be a whole cake, whole pie, or baker’s dozen of cookies in a disposable container covered with clear plastic wrap. Entries cannot require refrigeration. Names cannot appear on the entry or recipe. Recipes must be printed or typed on 8½ by 11 paper and list ingredients used in each part of the entry.

Fillings, frostings, glazes, and meringues cannot contain cream cheese, whipped cream, unpasteurized milk or raw eggs. Pasteurized eggs or eggs cooked to 160 degrees may be used. Home-canned fruit is not allowed.

All entries become property of the festival and will be auctioned at 3:00 pm at the shelter house after winners are announced. Nothing will be returned.

The festival will also feature the Jail & Bail fundraiser that will run Friday and Saturday. It costs $1 to jail a willing family member, friend, coworker or yourself, and a donation bails them out. All proceeds benefit the festival.

Lastly, the food options offer something for everyone. Food trucks include Brother B’s Homemade Ice Cream, Hayes Lemonade, Mama B’s Family Kitchen, and Heavenly Hot Dogs.

“This will be a really fun weekend in a little town,” said organizer Kayce Johnson. “We don’t really do too much in Campbellsburg, so it’s really nice to put this on every year and have the whole community come out.

“It will be a really nice, family-friendly event,” she added. “We’re going to have bounce houses, the Bubble Bug, Silly Safari and a magic show… And we’ll have music at 7. We have The Checkmates and Little Mountain Band. The Checkmates play 60s and 70s classic rock, and Little Mountain Band plays more country… Good for all crowds.”

If you are searching for some local fun on the weekend of September 11 and 12, be sure to stop by Campbellsburg to see what the Campbellsburg Country Festival is all about.
