City of Salem Announces Infrastructure and Safety Upgrades on Jackson Street

The City of Salem has officially commenced an infrastructure and safety improvement project along Jackson Street. Funded in part by the state’s Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) program, the project will modernize stormwater management and significantly improve traffic flow and driver safety.

The upgrades feature the installation of a completely updated drainage control system designed to mitigate localized flooding and manage heavy stormwater runoff. Crews are actively constructing a brand-new roadway surface, which will culminate in a vital safety upgrade: the addition of a dedicated center turn lane.

This new lane configuration is designed to reduce rear-end collisions, alleviate traffic congestion, and provide motorists with a safer environment to navigate the busy corridor.

Barring severe weather or unforeseen delays, the City anticipates project completion within the next 30 days.
