Evidence at the scene and statements from the drivers and witnesses indicate that a maroon 2017 Hyundai Tucson, driven by Kimberly Cornelius, age 45 of Salem, was traveling west on State Road 56 East. For unknown reasons, Cornelius crossed the center line into the eastbound lane of traffic, where she sideswiped a white 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer, driven by Edward Turner, age 69 of Scottsburg.

The semi came to a stop about 200 yards from the SUV.
