On Monday, August 4 at 9:17 am, Washington County emergency responders received a call in regard to a fatal motor vehicle accident near Little York at the intersection of N Scifers and Bush Road. Upon arrival, a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze could be seen crashed into a tree off the east side of Scifers Road.
The driver, 34 year old Paige Turley of Kokomo, Indiana, was found deceased at the scene. She was the only occupant in the vehicle. According to the Washington County Sheriff's Department, speed was a factor in this accident.
"The preliminary investigation revealed that Turley was traveling southbound on Scifers Road. Turley drove off the west side of the roadway, overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed over to the east side of the roadway and struck a tree along the edge of the roadway. Speed was a factor in the crash," wrote Detective Brad Naugle.
Assisting Detective Naugle at the scene was Sheriff Brent Miller, Lieutenant Wayne Blevins, Officer Mike Wimmer, Gibson Volunteer Fire Department, Salem Fire Department, Washington County EMS and the Washington County Coroner’s Office.
