Indiana DHS Offers Reward for Information in Recent Salem Arson Investigation

Shortly after 11:30 pm on Monday, September 15, Washington County emergency responders including the Salem Fire Department were dispatched to the area of the 500 block of Pilgrim Way in Salem, just north of the ballpark in regards to a shed on fire, with concerns that the fire was spreading.

Although no injuries were reported, the structure was heavily damaged, and authorities now believe the fire was intentionally set. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) posted the following to Facebook on Thursday afternoon:

"Investigators are seeking the public's help in solving an arson case in Salem, Indiana. On Sept. 15, around 11:30 p.m., the Salem Fire Department responded to a shed fire on Pilgrim Way. The fire is believed to have been intentionally set and caused significant damage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for tips that lead to a conviction. If you have any information, call the Indiana Arson Hotline at 1-800-382-4628. All calls are confidential."
