Larry Joe Cottongim

Submitted by Dawalt Funeral Home

Larry Joe Cottongim, age 62, of Salem, Indiana, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Larry was born on December 2, 1963, in Salem, Indiana, to Lee Ralph and Dorothy Louise (Winslow) Cottongim.

On April 15, 1995, he married Sandra Annette Greene, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and the farming community he loved.

Larry attended Eastern High School and Prosser Vocational School. A lifelong farmer, he began working alongside his father at a young age and never lost his passion for agriculture. As a member of Washington County 4-H, he especially enjoyed showing hogs and took great pride in the farming traditions that shaped his life. If Larry wasn't farming, he was just as happy talking about it.

Larry also had a love of travel that began in his youth and continued throughout his life. He cherished taking his family on new adventures and exploring new places together. He enjoyed seeking out great food, always in search of the perfect tomahawk steak or lobster roll.

Larry was baptized into Christ at Canton Christian Church. He and Sandy raised their daughters, Raven and Katelynn, in the farming community that meant so much to him. He lived a life marked by hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sandra; his daughters, Raven Cottongim (Matthew House) and Katelynn Cottongim, both of Salem, Indiana; and the light of his life, his granddaughter, Starling Iliana Nice.

He is also survived by his siblings: Terry Cottongim (Nancy), Sara Day (David), and Kent Cottongim (Terri), all of Salem, Indiana; and his sister, Clara Cottongim of North Haven, Connecticut.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Ralph and Dorothy Louise Cottongim.

Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Southern Hills Church in Salem and Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at Southern Hills Church.

The funeral will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at the church, followed by burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Eastern High School FFA or Canton Christian Church.

Arrangements by Dawalt Funeral Home.
