Livonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue to host rescue training exercise

The following is a press release submitted by Livonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue

LIVONIA, Ind. — Livonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue will conduct a multi-department training & exercise focused on grain bin rescues on Monday, August 17, at 7:00 pm. The exercise will take place near Indiana Highway 337 and 650E in Bromer, Indiana.

Grain bin entrapments represent a severe risk in agricultural communities, requiring specialized equipment, precise coordination, and rapid technical rescue tactics. This joint exercise allows local first responders to practice specialized extrication techniques and refine inter-agency communication under realistic conditions.

Participating agencies will include neighboring fire departments, emergency medical services, and specialized air transport teams.

Public Notice: Residents and motorists traveling near Highway 337 in Bromer on Monday evening should expect a high concentration of emergency vehicles, including ground apparatus and MediVac helicopters. This is a controlled training exercise, not an active emergency. Traffic flow is not expected to be blocked, but drivers are advised to stay alert and avoid stopping on roadsides to watch the operation.

For more information regarding the exercise, please contact Livonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
