New Year’s Eve crash sends one to the hospital

The following is a press release from the Washington County Indiana Sheriff's Department.

On December 31, at approximately 6:26 pm, members of emergency services were dispatched to the area of East Daisy Line Road for a single vehicle crash.
Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a Hope McHone, age 62 of Salem, Indiana was traveling west on Daisy Line Road, in a 2006 Ford Explorer. McHone stated she swerved to avoid a collision with a deer that was crossing the roadway. McHone further stated her vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail, causing her vehicle to roll over and come to a rest on the passenger side, in a creek.
McHone was assisted out of the vehicle by other motorists, who had stopped to render aid.
McHone was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Salem by the Washington County Ambulance Service for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Sgt. Matt Hein is the lead investigating officer and was assisted by Sheriff Brent Miller and members of the Pierce/Polk Volunteer Fire Department.
McHope was wearing a seatbelt.
