Minor Injuries in Crash on Corner of Shelby & Bristol Streets

On April 22, 2025, at approximately 5:26 P.M., officers of the Salem Police Department, Washington County EMS, and the Salem Fire Department responded to the intersection of N. Shelby St. and Bristol St. in reference to a call reporting a two-vehicle crash involving personal injury.

Responders arrived on scene and saw two SUVs, both with significant damage, including air bags being deployed on both vehicles.

It was later determined that a 2019 Nissan Rogue had been stopped at the stop sign on Bristol St. at the intersection of N. Shelby St. attempting to continue straight onto Bristol St. Upon the Nissan continuing through the intersection, a 2025 Kia Sportage was traveling south on N. Shelby St. passing the intersection of Bristol St. At this time, the two vehicles collided into each other. The Nissan had struck the driver side middle portion of the Kia, causing the Kia to spin and strike the west sidewalk, where it came to a stop.

Children were involved in the crash but were luckily uninjured.

"There were slight injuries, like seatbelt abrasions and air bag burns," said Patrolman Michael Thacker, "but that was on the adults. The children were fine and cleared by EMS."
