Obituary: Jetta A. Burton

Jetta A. Burton, age 89 of Salem, Indiana passed away Monday, June 2, 2025 at 2:35 am, in Meadow View Health & Rehabilitation Salem, Indiana.


Born July 13, 1935 in New Albany, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Albert Arvel Martin and Margaret (Adams) Martin.


She had been a life resident of Floyd and Washington Counties and was a 1953 graduate of New Albany High School.


Jetta was a retired employee of the old Smith Cabinet Manufacturing Company in Salem, retiring in 1998, was a member of the D. A. R. and was a talented artist.


On February 14, 1954 she married William R. Kemp Sr., who passed away August 12, 1978. On October 16, 1979 she married Albert Burton Sr., who passed away September 2, 2020.


Survivors include: Daughter: Roberta May of Salem; Son: William R. (Pamela) Kemp Jr. of Paoli; 2 Stepsons: Albert Burton Jr. of Portland, Tennessee and Danny Burton of Hamilton, Ohio; Granddaughter: Corissa Campbell and 4 great grandsons.


She was preceded in death by daughter: Cindy House Womack; 2 grandsons: Andrew Sage and Michael Ray House; brother: James Martin and sister: Janice Martin Roberts.


Funeral Service Friday, June 6th at 2pm at Dawalt Funeral Home, followed by interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.


Visitation: 12 Noon to 2p m Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home
