Obituary: Teresa Rutherford

Teresa Rutherford, age 74, of Borden passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at her residence. Born September 2, 1950 in New Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joy Wheeler and Dorothy (Hammonds) Wheeler. On October 14, 1991, she married Paul "Bob" Rutherford who preceded her in death on January 19, 2024.

Teresa was an accountant, devoting much of her time to non-profit organizations; she was a member of the First Christian Church of Borden, the Borden Braves Foundation, and the NRA.

She is survived by her daughter, Holly Thompson (Chris); son, Bob Rutherford (Amy); brother, Jerry Bidwell; 2 sisters: Joy Carolyn Sumner (Sam) and Diana Hall (James);and six (6) grandchildren: Gracie Mauck, Emma Mauck, Chloe Rutherford, Rachael Rutherford, Hunter Rutherford, and Layla Rutherford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joy and Dorothy Wheeler; husband, Paul "Bob" Rutherford; brother, Danny Bidwell; and sister, Lorna Strojny.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Borden with Bro. Brian Combs officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, June 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial to follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Teresa may be made to the Borden Braves Foundation or the First Christian Church of Borden.
