On Thursday morning, March 13, 2025, a graveside service was held at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana, for Roy Michael "Mike" White, a Marine Corps veteran who passed away on March 6, 2024, at the age of 73. White, originally from Muncie, Indiana, was laid to rest with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 9.
A call for attendance was posted by a veteran's group to Facebook on March 11, urging veterans and community members to attend the service, as White had no immediate family.

The post received over 3,000 shares and prompted an overwhelming turnout. More than 150 individuals, both veterans and civilians, packed into the limited space of the on-site chapel to attend the ceremony.

The military honors included the folding of the American flag, three volleys of rifle fire, and the playing of "Taps."
Following the service, the attendees rose and left quietly, many in tears. As Facebook again lit up with posts and messages about the service, one post in particular stood out: “Thank to all of the veterans and civilians that showed up for Mr. White's (Marine veteran) funeral service today. Your love and dedication to our veterans shined bright today and I couldn't be prouder of my veteran community and family. To those that came from far and wide, safe travels home and thank you for your service!”

Beautiful!
