Thursday afternoon sees two-vehicle accident near Growby's (VIDEO)

At 2:37 pm on August 6, Salem emergency responders received a dispatch call directing them to the area of 401 N Water Street, near Growby’s. The call stated there was a two-vehicle accident with possible injuries. While responding to the scene, officials had both lanes of W Hackberry Street closed.

Upon arrival, two visibly damaged vehicles could be seen. One with front end damage, and the other with damage to the driver side. We spoke to Officer Wilcoxson, and he informed us of what occurred.

“At the intersection of Water Street and Hackberry, we had a passenger car traveling north on Water Street,” said Wilcoxson. “They pulled out into oncoming traffic and was struck by another vehicle that was heading eastbound on Hackberry Street… No injuries that I’m aware of at this time. It was reported as an injury accident, but I don’t know the extent of the injuries.”

Responding departments included the City of Salem Fire Department, Salem Police Department, Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Indiana Sheriffs Department, and Wilcox Towing & Trucking, Inc.
