Two Washington County residents killed in motorcycle crash near Vallonia

Two people were killed Saturday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash near Vallonia.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash at approximately 2:14 p.m. Sept. 12 in the 2600 block of S. State Road 135.

The vehicles involved were a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a 2019 Dodge Journey and a 2023 Toyota Camry, according to the sheriff’s department.

Brandon Goodhue, 35, of Campbellsburg, was operating the motorcycle. Desiree L. Freiberger, 26, of Greenville, was a passenger.

Goodhue and Freiberger both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by Jackson County Deputy Coroner Todd Brumfield.

According to the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle was traveling south on State Road 135 while the Dodge Journey was traveling north. The motorcycle made contact with the Dodge Journey before entering the northbound lane and striking the Toyota Camry.

Indiana State Police responded to assist with the crash reconstruction.

Goodhue and Freiberger have been remembered by family and friends on Facebook following their deaths. Posts shared by those who knew them described both as deeply loved and said they will be greatly missed. A moment of silence was also reportedly held Monday at 4 p.m. during shift change at MPP in Campbellsburg, where Goodhue worked.

The crash remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police. Additional information may be released as the investigation continues.
