On Saturday, July 5 at 12:48 pm, the Salem Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to 502 E Walnut St in regard to a vehicle fire.
Upon Washington County Times’ arrival, what appeared to be a charred Nissan 300zx could be seen in the backyard of 502 E Walnut St surrounded by foam used by the Salem Fire Department to extinguish the flames. The Salem FD is not currently sure how the fire began.

“I do not know how it started,” said Assistant Fire Chief Max Gamble. “No real good idea to be honest. He [the owner] said that he was not here or was inside, one or the other, when it happened, and he doesn’t know either. The tag on it is from 2017, so he said it's been sitting here since then. One of those unexplained things I guess, but we made pretty quick work of it.”
Thanks to the quick response by the Salem Fire Department and the Salem Police Department, the situation was handled within minutes and further damage was not sustained.
