VIDEO: Semi jackknifes on W SR-60, van involved in wreck
This afternoon, Friday, October 16 at approximately 12:22 pm, Salem emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of W SR-60 and W SR-56 regarding a motor vehicle accident that involved a jackknifed semi and a van.
Upon arrival, the semi could be seen stretched across the highway, resting against a damaged utility pole. The van could be seen a short distance away with visible damage to the driver side.
We spoke with Salem Fire Assistant Chief Max Gamble about the nature of the incident, but we were unable to acquire any further information beyond Gamble stating there were no injuries to the best of his knowledge, but that the driver of the van was transported from the scene via ambulance.
We do not know what caused the accident, but we can reasonably assume the combination of the rain and the slope of the road may have been a factor. If any further information becomes available, we will provide updates.
Responding departments included Salem Fire Department, Salem Police Department, Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriffs Department, and Wilcox Towing & Trucking, Inc.
