On Friday, May 16, Washington County EMS, Sheriff’s Department, and Campbellsburg Volunteer Fire Department received a call at 1:16 pm regarding a single-vehicle wreck on SR-60 near 596 W Oak St and S Bilyeu Rd, Campbellsburg involving a 79-year-old female complaining of elbow pain.

Upon arrival, a gray Honda Accord could be seen sitting a long distance away from the road in a field. The driver reportedly blacked out while approaching a curve on SR-60 according to Lieutenant Wayne Blevins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
“She was in Salem and was going home to Bloomington. While she was heading back home, she just kind of blacked out a little bit and shot straight off the curve and into the field,” Lt. Blevins said. “She checked out okay with the ambulance, but she signed a refusal [of treatment] that says we have to stay here and wait for a family member to pick her up so that she doesn’t have to drive back to Bloomington by herself.”
Lt. Wayne Blevins remained on the scene until a family member arrived to ensure the woman’s safety. Aside from a sore elbow, no serious injuries were reported, and the vehicle was later removed from the field.
