A dad’s “brilliant” plan… and the lesson it revealed about staying connected to what truly powers your life.

This past Easter, I made a parenting decision that… well… might be up for debate.
After church, we had an Easter egg hunt with the boys. Isaiah and Isaac—being older and faster—were doing what they always do… absolutely dominating.
Meanwhile, Ethan—my 2nd youngest—was giving it everything he had… but just couldn’t keep up.
So naturally… Dad stepped in.
Let’s just say I may have redirected a few of the older boys… strategically pointing them away from certain eggs so Ethan could have a fighting chance.
In my mind? Genius.
In Isaac’s mind? A complete injustice.
He looked at me like I had just broken every rule in the book. And honestly… he wasn’t entirely wrong
But as funny as the moment was, something from church earlier that morning stuck with me.
The message was about a power strip.
You can have the nicest power strip in the world—sleek design, multiple outlets, all the features… but if it’s not plugged into the source, it’s completely useless.
No power. No function. No purpose.
And it got me thinking… How often do we live the same way? We go through our routines. We show up to work. We take care of responsibilities. But are we actually plugged into the source that gives us life, energy, and direction? Or are we just going through the motions—hoping something eventually “clicks”?
Because when you’re truly connected to the right source… everything changes. You begin to understand that you’re not operating out of pressure—you’re operating from a place of being loved.
And when you know you’re loved:
• You show up differently for your family
• You handle stress differently
• You take better care of your health
• You lead with more purpose
It’s not just about doing more… It’s about being connected to what actually fuels you.
So yeah… I may have bent the rules a little during an Easter egg hunt. But the bigger takeaway?
Make sure you’re plugged into the right source. Because that’s where real life change begins.
If this hit home for you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. And if you’ve ever had a “creative parenting moment” like mine… I definitely won’t judge!
Your friend,
Dr. Mosier
