Baseball and Softball Sectionals Pairings

BASEBALL


On Sunday, May 4, the IHSAA released the sectional pairings for baseball. All three county schools will begin their tourney trek on the road this year.

The Lions and Musketeers will play in the Class 2A Sectional 46 at Mitchell and the Senators will play in the Class A Sectional 63 at Lanesville.


The Musketeers (3-8) will play Providence in the second game. The Lions (7-5-1) will play Crawford County in the third game. Mitchell and Clarksville will play the opening game, and Paoli drew the bye and will play the winner of the Mitchell-Clarksville game.


Sectional games will begin on Wednesday, May 28 and continue through Monday, June 2.


The Musketeers are 0-2 against sectional opponents this year with losses to Providence (18-0) and Salem (13-7).

The Lions are 4-0 against sectional opponents this year as they have wins over Clarksville (15-0), Providence (7-6), Crawford County (10-1) and Eastern (13-7). Providence is last year’s defending Class 2A State Champions.

As for the Senators (10-0), they will play South Central in the second game. New Washington will battle Christian Academy in the opening game on the first day. Rock Creek and the host Lanesville will battle in game three and Borden will play Henryville in the fourth game.


The Senators are 2-0 against sectional foes this year as they have wins over Christian Academy (16-3) and Rock Creek (20-3). South Central is the defending sectional champion.

G6: Winner of G3 vs. Winner of G4

Championship: Winner of G5 vs Winner of G6



SOFTBALL


On Sunday, May 4, the IHSAA also released the upcoming softball pairings. The Lions and Musketeers will travel to play in the Class 2A Sectional 46 at Clarksville, while the Senators will play host to the Class A Sectional 63.


All sectional games will be played between Monday, May 26 through Saturday, May 31.


The Lions (7-3) will play Clarksville in the second game and the Musketeers (5-6) drew the bye and will play the winner of the first game between Paoli and Crawford County. Mitchell and Providence will play the third game.


The Lions are currently 3-1 against other sectional opponents with wins over Paoli (9-1), Eastern (3-2) and Clarksville (10-4). Their only loss came to Providence 3-1.


The Musketeers are 3-2 against other sectional foes with wins over Mitchell (14-1), Paoli (14-1) and Clarksville (5-0). Their two losses came against Providence (5-3) and Salem (3-2). Providence is the returning sectional champion from last year.


As for the Senators (10-2), they will play New Washington in the third game. Christian Academy will open sectional play up against Rock Creek and South Central will play Henryville in the second game. Lanesville will play Borden in the fourth game.


The Senators were last year’s defending sectional champs and are 3-0 against sectional opponents this year with wins over Lanesville (9-3), Christian Academy (18-0) and South Central (15-0).
