  • For readers who may not be familiar with the position, how would you describe the primary responsibilities of a Township Trustee?

The Township Trustee is responsible for managing township funds, providing township assistance, and supporting fire protection services. Residents in need can go to their Township Trustee for help with utilities, rent, or other basic necessities. The Township Trustee also helps with supporting fire protection services, which includes working with and helping fund the local volunteer fire department. It's about being accessible, responsive, and making sure the community is being served the way it should be.

  • Can you tell us about your background and any experience that has prepared you to serve as Township Trustee?

I run a local IT and phone service company. With that involves knowledge of managing budgets, solving problems quickly, and taking care of people. Although I work with tech daily, the main goal of my business is to solve problems for people and provide excellent customer service. That's directly transferable to this role. I'm used to being available and figuring things out when something isn't working.

  • What motivated you to run for Township Trustee?

I've always enjoyed helping people and want to be more involved. When you live in a small community, you notice when things are just coasting along instead of improving. I care about this area and the people in it, and truly believe that I can help. I didn't want to sit back and complain, so I decided to get involved.

  • How do you balance helping residents in need while also being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars?

It needs to be a balance. Township assistance is available for those that need it. At the same time, there are rules set by the state. I will follow those rules. I want people to feel like they can call their Trustee and be treated with respect while their situation is fully evaluated. It's about being fair, but also being disciplined.

  • How would you approach transparency and accountability in the management of township funds and services?

I will have clear communication with residents and will be accessible to the public to answer any questions they may have. I also plan to attend training hosted by the Indiana Township Association.

  • How do you plan to work with the Township Board, county officials, and community organizations to best serve residents?

I believe that a lot can be accomplished by working closely with others. I plan to stay in regular contact with the board and other local leaders making sure communication is consistent and everyone is on the same page. I also plan to work closely with the Pierce Township Trustee and the Pierce-Polk Township Volunteer Fire Department.  Our fire department plays a critical role in keeping residents safe. I want to make sure their needs are being heard and taken seriously. I believe in listening to the people actually doing the work and making decisions based on their needs. The goal is to work together to serve the community as effectively as possible.

  • What qualities or experiences do you believe may set you apart from any opponent(s) in this race?

I bring a different level of energy and urgency to the role. I believe in being accessible. If someone calls or needs help, they shouldn't feel like they are chasing down their Trustee. I'm running because I think things can be done better, with more responsiveness and a stronger connection to the people in the community. I take pride in being someone people can count on to follow through.

  • Do you have any final thoughts you’d like to share with township residents and Washington County voters?

If elected, I will do my best to be accessible, fair, and responsive. This position is about helping people and being a good steward of taxpayer money, and I will take both seriously. I would appreciate your support, and I'm always open to talking with anyone who has questions or concerns.
