Livonia VFD traveling to Ohio to honor fallen 18 year-old firefighter with local family ties

Members of Livonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue will travel to Ohio this week to honor the life and service of 18-year-old Firefighter Wyatt Fisher, who died following a motorcycle crash near Cincinnati.

The department will send firefighters and apparatus to participate in funeral services, joining fire departments from across the region in paying tribute to one of their own.

Wyatt served with both the Stonelick Township and Wayne Township fire departments. Although only 18 years old, fellow firefighters say he had already demonstrated a deep commitment to serving and protecting his community.

The loss also carries a personal connection for Livonia Fire & Rescue. Fisher came from a family with a long tradition of public service, including his mother, father, and brother, who are all first responders. His great-uncle is a firefighter with Livonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Clermont Northeastern High School in Batavia, Ohio.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, July 17, beginning at 11 a.m. Following the service, a fire service procession will escort Fisher to Batavia Union Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full fire service honors.

"The fire service stands united in times of heavy grief," said Livonia Volunteer Fire & Rescue Chief Aaron Dennis. "On behalf of the Livonia Fire Department, I extend our deepest condolences and unwavering solidarity to our brothers and sisters mourning the tragic loss of Firefighter Wyatt Fisher.

"Wyatt was a dedicated firefighter with both the Stonelick Township and Wayne Township fire departments. Though only 18, he exemplified the very best of our profession through his selflessness, compassion, and commitment to protecting others. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this incredibly difficult time.

"When a loss involves one of our own family members, that bond is profoundly strengthened. We feel that deep connection and shared sense of duty as we honor Wyatt's service and legacy."

The trip reflects the longstanding tradition of firefighters supporting one another during times of loss. Regardless of distance, departments often travel to honor fallen members, standing alongside grieving families and fellow first responders as a symbol of the close-knit bond shared throughout the fire service.
