For nearly eighty years, 106 S. Water Street has been home to Marshall Monuments, an artisan memorial company founded in 1946 by Claude Marshall. Now owned by Corey Churchman, the longtime Washington County business has announced plans to move its showroom and office to a new location on Main Street.

In a Facebook post, Churchman said the business is in the process of purchasing the former Duke Energy building at 205 N. Main Street. The move is intended to improve customer access and address concerns about flooding at the current site.

"This will serve as our showroom, providing customers with easier access and better parking," said Churchman.

The current Water Street property will continue to be used for production, including carving and etching.

Churchman said he expects to close on the Main Street property later this week. Remodeling will take place over the next few months, with plans for an open house sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

In the meantime, Marshall Monuments is holding a sale to reduce existing inventory at the Water Street location, with in-stock items advertised as being up to 75% off.

"I physically can't move the many hundreds of stones that we currently have in stock," Churchman said. "This once in a lifetime sale starts now."

Churchman also thanked the community for its continued support.

"I take such pride in my work and always feel blessed to be a part of this community," he wrote. "If anyone needs anything or has any questions, call or text 812-704-6773."
