Robert Ricky “Rick” Schuler, 75, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on August 14, 2026. He was born on January 10, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Robert Nolan Schuler and Gladys Wright Schuler.

Rick proudly served his country as a United States Marine and later dedicated 34 years of service to the State of Indiana as an Indiana Master State Trooper before retiring. His commitment to serving and protecting others was an important part of his life and legacy.

Rick was a best friend to everyone he met. He had a loving and generous heart and was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished his family deeply and will be remembered for the love, friendship, kindness, and memories he shared with so many.

Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football, and playing on his iPad. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and making the most of life's simple pleasures.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Nolan Schuler and Gladys Wright Schuler; his son, Brian Shane Schuler; his grandson, Drew Schuler; and his brother-in-law, Howard Dye.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gail Schuler; his children, Kevin Schuler, Keith Schuler, and Jade Schuler (David Hurst); grandchildren, Gage Schuler and Amber Fuller (James); great-grandchildren, Brayden Fullen, Kayden Fuller, and Oakley Fuller; siblings, Pamela Dye and Sheila Cooper (Billy); his beloved dog, Wilbur and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rick will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a best friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence brought warmth and friendship to the lives of many, and his memory will be treasured by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 East Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Wolfe Cemetery.
