On September 4 at 8:44 am, Washington County emergency responders were dispatched to W Becks Mill Rd near S Cauble Rd in regard to a single-vehicle wreck with injuries. The dispatch call stated that the driver was experiencing chest pain after the accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, a red Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck could be seen propped up between two trees on the side of a steep drop-off off the south side of the street. The front end was smashed into a tree, while the second tree seemed to be holding the truck on the passenger side, preventing it from rolling further down the slope into the nearby creek.
The driver [traveling west] ran off the road up here and tried to correct, but once he hit the pole, it shoved him down into the embankment,” said Washington County Sheriff’s Department Captain Joe Keltner. “He was transported via ambulance complaining of non-life threatening injuries.”
“My husband [the driver] called and said the road was slick,” said Mandy, the wife of the driver. “He went off the road and hit a tree. According to the officers, he went off the road a little ways back there. They said that it had rained recently after not raining for a while, and when that happens, some of the oils come up [in the road]. It looked like when he tried to correct, he unfortunately corrected up into the telephone pole, and it pushed him back down into the tree.”
Thankfully, the driver did not sustain serious injuries, and emergency responders had the scene cleared within approximately one hour. Responding departments included the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, EMS, Salem Fire Department and Wilcox Towing & Trucking.
