On Friday, August 29, Washington County emergency responders received a dispatch call at 4:49 pm in regard to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of North Shelby Street and Bristol Street. The incident involved a Ford Fiesta and a Buick Encore.

Upon the arrival of the Washington County Times, the two vehicles could be seen several yards apart, both with extensive damage. The Buick had major front-end damage, and the Ford had damage to the front driver side door. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.
“We don’t know exactly what happened yet, but we do know that there were two vehicles involved at the intersection of Shelby and Bristol,” said Salem Police Officer Tony England. “Some drivers were injured. I can’t talk about what their injuries are, but two drivers and one passenger were injured. One of the drivers was trapped, and I believe the fire department had to cut her out of the vehicle.”

“I’m not completely sure what happened, but I believe the Buick was traveling west on Bristol Street and the Ford was traveling south on North Shelby Street, and they collided at the intersection,” said Mark Gorman from the Salem Fire Department.
Thanks to the quick efforts of the Salem Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Salem Fire Department, EMS and Salem Wrecker Service, the scene was cleared in a safe and timely manner.
