WCCF donors award over $100,000 in grants this spring


Submitted by the Washington County Community Foundation


Grants totaling over $100,000 were awarded to organizations serving Washington County by the generous donors of the Washington County Community Foundation for the Spring 2026 grant cycle. Grants are primarily awarded from the Foundation’s Touch Tomorrow Funds.



Outside the Walls received a $2,700 grant to assist with their costs of building handicap accessible ramps for needy Washington County residents.


Visitors to Becks Mill will see a rainy-day structure soon. A $16,547 grant was awarded to Friends of Becks Mill to build the structure that will be able to host events in case of poor weather.


Get ready for a great time at the Campbellsburg Country Festival. A $3,500 grant was awarded to them to assist in providing lots of entertainment for the festival. Be sure to check it out!



The Brown Vernon Fire District was awarded a $15,000 grant for a new UTV with skids for emergency services which will be utilized to reach rough terrain areas and along the Monon South Trail.


Blue River Services was awarded a $3,000 grant to assist in purchasing outdoor furniture for the remodel of their Nichols Home Development. The development houses residents with developmental disabilities.


The Blessings Box in Pekin will get a boost with a $2,000 grant to Blessing From Above which will help provide food and hygiene for needy residents.


The Town of New Pekin will be seeing an improvement for the floors of the Pekin Park Community Building. New concrete floors will make the building safer and easier to maintain due to a $10,000 grant.



The Salem Senior Citizens Center will be riding in style with a restoration to their current van. The van, while running well, is starting to show sign of body rust. The $5,913.32 grant will be used to save the van exterior to extend its life.


A $3,000 grant has been awarded to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department to assist with implementing an employee/officer gym to keep our LEOs in shape.


The Warming Station has been awarded a $1,000 grant to assist with providing food for attendees, vendors, and volunteers at the Community Resource Fair.


Time can stand still. The Pekin Community Betterment Organizations has been awarded a $1,465 grant to create a new time capsule to capture 2026 experiences and values, ensuring that future residents can dig up these memories at the next milestone celebration.



Hoosier Uplands has been awarded a grant for after school programming at West Washington. The $9,360 grant will be uses to assist Hoosier Uplands with operating the invaluable program.


All three county school corporations will receive $3,900 each to assist with their Jump Start programs – a back to school program providing necessary supplies, etc. to students who may not otherwise be able to afford them, creating a great start to their school year.


Junior Achievement of Kentuckian has been awarded a$2,500 grant to assist with financial literacy programming for Washington County students. Programming includes a visit to BizTown, an interactive town, providing students a glimpse in the daily financial needs of the real world.


The Pierce Polk Fire Department has been awarded a $15,000 grant to assist with their station remodel, including building modifications to allow for the addition of two new truck bays within the existing station.
