West Washington Drama presents Agatha Christie mystery this weekend

The West Washington High School Drama Department is bringing one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries to the stage this weekend with three performances of And Then There Were None.

Based on Christie’s best-selling 1939 novel, the play follows ten strangers who are invited to a secluded island under mysterious circumstances. Shortly after their arrival, a recorded message accuses each guest of a terrible crime. One by one, members of the group begin to die in ways that eerily mirror a dark nursery rhyme hanging on the wall. Trapped with no way to leave and no idea whom they can trust, the characters must face the secrets of their own pasts as the remaining survivors try to uncover the killer before time runs out.

Director Kayla Seybold said the cast has poured tremendous effort into bringing the classic thriller to life. “These kids have been working really hard,” she noted. “They’ve put in hours and hours for this show. It’s a really challenging show to ask the kids to take control of, and they have really just risen to the challenge.”

Seybold added that this year’s cast is especially young. With only one senior involved working behind the scenes, the production is carried onstage entirely by freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Despite their age, she said, they have handled the demanding material with focus and maturity. “I’m just so proud of them,” she said.

Shows will be held Friday, November 21st and Saturday, November 22nd at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 23rd at 3:00 p.m. All tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance, and guests should enter at Door 17. Performances take place at the school at 8028 W. Batt Road in Campbellsburg.
