Happy Independence Day! The annual Pekin 4th of July Festival wrapped up the first day with the Juice Box Heroes, chicken poop bingo, a dessert auction and much more.

It is once again time for the Summer Festival at the Hardinsburg General Store! On July 10, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at 8674 W Radcliff Rd, the store – and especially the parking lot – will be full of vendors and visitors from all over our community as we gather for the fourth annual summer festival.

Pekin is hosting its 196th consecutive Fourth of July Celebration this weekend! The event is recognized across the country as the nation’s oldest continuous Independence Day celebration.

Well, it looks like summer is officially here. Washington County is under a heat advisory this week, as dangerously hot temperatures and high humidity are expected to push heat index values into the mid-100s.

The 2026 Washington County Fair came to a close this past weekend, and we have created a video chock-full of photos submitted by none other than you!

​The official ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. The American Legion Color Guard will present the colors, followed by a keynote presentation by a state official to commemorate Hardinsburg’s reincorporation.

The Washington County Farmers-Merchants Fair will take place from Saturday, June 13 through Saturday, June 20 at the fairgrounds off East Market Street. A digital copy of the fair's program can be found here, including entry forms for the fair parade and baby contest.
