Just six weeks after the Town of Hardinsburg was officially reinstated on June 17, all four members of the original town board have resigned and been replaced. But as the town works to reestablish itself, tensions have surfaced over the future of the building that the town board is meeting in – a building that for years has been known as the Hardinsburg Senior Citizens Center.

Volunteer firefighting has seen a recent dip in interest nationwide. Firefighters within our community are calling on us to consider joining the ranks in order to help those we love.

Troopers from the Indiana State Police Sellersburg District arrested 25-year-old Dorothy J. Snell of Hanover, Indiana, on multiple charges related to a May 2025 fatal collision that killed her six-year-old daughter and injured Snell and three others.

On Friday, July 18, at 11:54 am, Washington County emergency responders were dispatched to the area near the intersection of SR 60 and E Motsinger Rd in reference to a minor, single-vehicle accident involving a red Ford truck. Upon arrival, the truck could be seen off the side of the road, and it appeared to have damaged fencing.

Emilee McCartney, who earlier this year launched a campaign for Indiana’s 9th Congressional District, announced this week that she is suspending her run for federal office.

At approximately 5:46 pm on Tuesday, July 15, emergency personnel including Indiana State Police, Posey First Responders, and Washington County EMS were dispatched to the intersection of Horners Chapel Road and U.S. Highway 150 between Palmyra and Fredricksburg, where a semi was reported as having hit a church building.

On July 15 at 12:28 pm, Salem emergency responders received a call regarding a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Hackberry and Anson Street. Upon arrival, the wrecked motorcycle could be seen on its side with the bloodied driver on the ground nearby.
