Mitchell Ooley

Mitchell Todd Ooley Mitch Ooley, 53, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at University of Louisville Hospital.


Mitchell, or “Mitch” as he was known by many, was born on December 6, 1972, in New Albany, Indiana, and was the son of Sandy McCutcheon, and the late Michael Littell Ooley.


In addition to his mother, he is survived by sisters, Annette Agan (Mike) of Salem and Jennifer Ooley (Marvin Stevenson) of Louisville, Kentucky; niece, Brooke Ainsworth (Luke); nephews, Jordan Agan, Cameron Densford, Gavin Cheatham, great-niece, Veronica Baer, step sister, Debra Voyles, step brother, Bryan Mccutcheon, and stepmother, Diane Ooley; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.


In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Dwayne McCutcheon; nephew, Chandler Densford; step-brother, Mark McCutcheon; Grandparents, Pauline and Fred Yingling and Omar and Helen Mauk; step-grandmother, Fannie McCutcheon.


Mitchell was a 1991 graduate of Salem High School and spent most of his life as a resident of Salem, Indiana. For the past 15 years, he lovingly and faithfully cared for his mother, a role he carried with unwavering devotion, compassion, and strength.


Throughout his life, Mitchell never ceased to show love and compassion to anyone who surrounded him. He brought vitality and humor to any situation in which he found himself. Both personally and professionally, his focus was always on generosity and putting others’ needs before his own. He loved animals and enjoyed hiking, fishing, and spending time outdoors, where he found peace and happiness in nature. “Uncle Mitchell” never knew a stranger, and the decades of laughter and happiness he brought to many will live on.


Mitchell served in the National Guard and spent the last 10 years working as a healthcare worker with Living Well Home Care Service, where he dedicated himself to caring for others. His kindness, generosity, and quiet willingness to help those around him were evident throughout both his personal and professional life.


Mitchell will be remembered for his caring heart, gentle spirit, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.


In accordance with his wishes, Mitchell will be cremated.


Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Community Worship Chapel (4925 Indiana-64, Marengo, IN), with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Network for Hope https://www.networkforhope.org/ in honor of Mitchell’s compassionate spirit and his passion for organ donation and helping others.
