Washington County SWCD to Host "September Stewardship" Conservation Field Day Event

The Washington County Soil & Water Conservation District will be holding a "September Stewardship" event on Saturday, September 20th from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Please join us for a day of education and fun at the Salem Practice Soccer Fields! We will learn about the conservation stewardship that has occurred at Salem School's Outdoor Lab and Cross-Country Course over many years!

This event will highlight

• History & Timeline of the property: past and future staff & student projects

• Soil Health & Prairie Conservation: observations from an Indiana soil scientist -- attendees can view the soil profile of a long-term native planting

• Agricultural Stewardship: learn about the management of crop ground bordering the property

• Forestry & Invasive Species Management: local forester will share about the prescribed burning that occurs at the property and how fire is used to manage invasive species

RSVP by Friday, September 12th for a free lunch. RSVPs will be accepted after this date! The first 15 to RSVP will receive a free packet of native pollinator or cover crop seeds!
