YMCA announces preschool registration for 2026–27 year

Washington County, IN — The Washington County Family YMCA Preschool Program is excited to announce upcoming registration dates for the 2026-2027 preschool year. Member Registration opens on February 23, at the YMCA front desk, followed by Community Registration opening on March 14 at 9:00 AM in the YMCA lobby.

Thanks to recent grant funding from Early Learning Indiana, shared with the Washington County Family YMCA Preschool Program by Align Southern Indiana and Building Blocks, the program has made HUGE strides in advancing the quality of early childhood education offered to local families.

This funding has allowed the program to significantly enhance its play-based learning centers, implement a scientifically based curriculum, and invest in highly trained, well-educated staff who actively participate in ongoing professional development. Together, this $40,000 in improvements ensures children are supported by knowledgeable educators in engaging, developmentally appropriate environments.

The preschool program also continues to prioritize the whole child by meeting social-emotional growth benchmarks through e-DECA, while teaching age-appropriate, play-based Kindergarten readiness standards. Children’s progress is thoughtfully monitored through ongoing Brigance assessments, ensuring each child’s individual growth and learning needs are supported.

As the community looks ahead to spring—and the exciting milestone of breaking ground on a new child care center—the Washington County Family YMCA Preschool Program remains committed to providing continuous, high-quality solutions for child care and early education. These efforts reflect a long-term investment in the children and families of the community, helping ensure every child has a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
