Known as ‘Vern’ to his friends, Terry was born in Scottsburg on August 17, 1952, to the late Roen and Lena Terrell. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years, including duty in Vietnam. He also survived the Beirut bomb blast in 1983 and was awarded the Purple Heart. Throughout his military career, he earned numerous medals, awards, and certificates.
