JAG (Jobs for America’s Graduates) has been very influential for students at Salem High School. Tara Kritzer has been working for JAG at SHS since the school introduced it in 2024. Due to budget cuts by the Indiana State Legislature this year, the JAG program will be defunded almost completely. Roughly 85% of JAG funding has been cut, and because of this, JAG will not be able to continue after the first semester at SHS.

Local author Wayne D. Kramer has introduced a brand-new children’s book series featuring a lovable pangolin whose adventures teach lessons about friendship, empathy, and protecting wildlife.

On September 29th, 2024, Salem Police Officer Dylan England responded to an alarm activation at the Washington County Food Bank, adjacent Rustic Cuts Hair Salon. Officer England noticed pry marks on a side door upon arrival, suggesting an attempted forced entry. 

This past Friday, October 24, food trucks gathered to line the sides of Market Street in the most recent edition of the “on the Bricks” series titled, “Food Trucks on the Bricks.”
