First Baptist Church will be hosting a free night of Christmas music on December 6 presented by The Washington County Madrigal Singers. Although this year's Christmas concert is a slight change of pace and name, it is continuing the 52 year tradition of the "Washington County Madrigal Dinner" at First Baptist.

"Our Dad, Ronald C Haendiges Sr, has gone to be his Lord at the age of 82. Although Dad was unresponsive during his final days, on the afternoon of December 3, 2025 he was awakened to the surpassing glory of his Savior Jesus Christ."

The holiday spirit is gearing up in Campbellsburg as the community prepares for a festive evening of Hot Cocoa & Cookies with Santa and Mr. Grinch on December 12 from 6–8 p.m. at the Campbellsburg Community Building. The event is free to attend, with guests encouraged to bring donations for the local food bank—non-perishable items, monetary contributions, or volunteer time.

The December 2 Commissioners Meeting was mostly business as usual aside from a slew of highway project bids that were opened, read, and then accepted for review by the commissioners. The meeting began with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, and then it moved to the approval of the agenda, meeting minutes from the November 18 meeting, and claims and payroll.

Charles "Brian" Carter, age 58 of Salem passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Meadowview. Mr. Carter was born March 8, 1967 in Salem, the son of Charles Gene Carter and Annita Smith Carter.

Mr. Joe Luther Barnard, age 89 of Salem, passed away December 2, 2025 at St. Vincent Salem Hospital. Mr. Barnard was born September 8, 1936 in Broughtontown, Kentucky to Felix and Isabelle Estep Barnard. He attended Westview Christian Church and retired from Child Craft Furniture after 41 years.

Nancy Roberta (Pinaire) Davis, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at the home of her sister and Micah Fox, caregivers in Salem, Indiana. She was 88.

Thomas Francis Eberle age 72 of Campbellsburg passed away December 2, 2025 at Jewish Hospital. Mr. Eberle was born May 25, 1953 in Toulon, Illinois the son of Bernard and Coleen Brown Eberle.

Moments of genuine gratitude often arrive when you least expect them. After saying grace, Ryder and I settled into the living room—leash in hand—because with a Great Dane of his height, everything on the table is fair game. And as much as he would have appreciated the hours of meal prep, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t intended for a massive, starving puppy who believes every meal might be his last.

Carol R. Miller, age 70 of Salem, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 at Salem Crossing. Mrs. Miller was born February 5, 1955 in Salem, Indiana the daughter of William Linscott "Scotty" Morgan and Vivian Carol Chastain Morgan. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Pekin Church of Christ.

Mrs. Deborah Jane Ponder, age 69, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, November 25 at her home after a three year battle with cancer.

Judy Kay (Bower) Brown, age 78 of Salem, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Hampton Oaks Health Campus Scottsburg, Indiana. Born December 15, 1946 in Salem, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Mildred (Fleenor) Bower.
