The Washington County Family YMCA has launched a community-wide challenge to raise the final funds needed for its transformative Beth Armstrong Y–For–All Capital Campaign. A generous donor has pledged to match every gift—dollar–for–dollar—up to $250,000, bringing the Y closer to its total campaign goal of $4.3 million.

Lynn Carter Hutton, age 88, of Salem, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025 at BeeHive Homes of Scottsburg. Born April 10, 1937 in Corbin, Kentucky, He was the son of the late Martin Hutton and Ethel (Taylor) Hutton.

Mr. Carl Leon Ragains, age 86 of Hardinsburg, passed away December 5, 2025 at IU Health Paoli Hospital. Mr. Ragains was born September 24, 1939, in Fredericksburg, Indiana to Jake and Oma Hauger Ragains.

First Baptist Church will be hosting a free night of Christmas music on December 6 presented by The Washington County Madrigal Singers. Although this year's Christmas concert is a slight change of pace and name, it is continuing the 52 year tradition of the "Washington County Madrigal Dinner" at First Baptist.

The holiday spirit is gearing up in Campbellsburg as the community prepares for a festive evening of Hot Cocoa & Cookies with Santa and Mr. Grinch on December 12 from 6–8 p.m. at the Campbellsburg Community Building. The December 2 Commissioners Meeting was mostly business as usual aside from a slew of highway project bids that were opened, read, and then accepted for review by the commissioners. The meeting began with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, and then it moved to the approval of the agenda, meeting minutes from the November 18 meeting, and claims and payroll.

Charles "Brian" Carter, age 58 of Salem passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Meadowview. Mr. Carter was born March 8, 1967 in Salem, the son of Charles Gene Carter and Annita Smith Carter.

Mr. Joe Luther Barnard, age 89 of Salem, passed away December 2, 2025 at St. Vincent Salem Hospital. Mr. Barnard was born September 8, 1936 in Broughtontown, Kentucky to Felix and Isabelle Estep Barnard. He attended Westview Christian Church and retired from Child Craft Furniture after 41 years.

Nancy Roberta (Pinaire) Davis, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at the home of her sister and Micah Fox, caregivers in Salem, Indiana. She was 88.
