SMS Adds an Open-Air Literature Lounge
The middle school recently received a grant from the Washington County Community Foundation to build an outside literature lounge. With the grant, they bought language arts teachers sets of books for their classrooms to read outside. They also got outdoor furniture, so that it can feel like an outdoor classroom.

South Main St Waterline Project Underway
Waterline construction that began April 1 along South Main St in Salem is in full swing. Traffic on South Main was limited earlier in the week in order to create enough space to work on the waterline upgrade project. With aims to enhance the quality of city water and modernize infrastructure, the city has invested in this project that is expected to take two to three months to finish.

New Press Box Arrives at SHS
On Monday, April 14, Salem High School was greeted with a brand new press box, but it did not arrive without a few delays. The press box, which was supposed to arrive at around 10:30 in the morning, did not arrive at the school until 4:00 PM due to various setbacks such as the delivery truck breaking down while en route.
