Large Barn Fire on Highland Rd
At 9:03 pm on May 21, the Salem Fire Department received a call in regard to a “large barn fire” at 3821 N Highland Rd.
Upon arrival, a barn could be seen with flames coming out of every opening and window. Aside from speculation, the cause of the fire is still unknown.

"Cop on a Rooftop" Raised $470 for Special Olympics
On Friday, May 16, the Washington County, Indiana Special Olympics athletes were joined by local law enforcement at Dunkin’ in Salem for the first annual “Cop on a Rooftop” fundraiser event. Beginning at 5 am and ending at noon, this fundraiser helps ensure that our local Special Olympics group is able to participate in the events that they love dearly. This year, they were able to bring in $470.
